Manuel Teixeira Gomes Literary Prize

The Manuel Teixeira Gomes Literary Prize, promoted by the Municipality and the Portimão Municipal Library, is officially launched on the national holiday of 10th June, the Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities.  
The aim of this competition is to stimulate literary creation, while honouring the writer and President of the Republic, born in Portimão and patron of the award, whose life and work are intimately linked to the Arade River and the Algarve.
The works in the competition must be unpublished and written in Portuguese about a free theme. It is open to all Portuguese authors, citizens of Portuguese-speaking countries, European Union citizens and also other foreign citizens with a regularized stay in Portugal.  
The contestant must enter a specific link, fill in the form with the identification data (name, e-mail, ID number, NIF and telephone number), pseudonym and the title of the respective work, and submit the work to the competition in PDF format.
The Prize jury, "composed of three individuals of recognized merit in the field of Literature", will decide which work will be awarded, to be officially announced during the month of December, within the celebrations of Portimão's City Day.
The winning work will be published in 300 copies, half of which will be given to the author, who will also be awarded a monetary prize of one thousand euros.
